INDIA — India Elephants Cross the Road: Commuters stop to let three wild elephants cross a road near Bagdogra, in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal on Friday. In an effort to save its dwindling elephant population the animal was declared India’s “National Heritage Animal,” in 2010.

VIRGINIA — Adult Bald Eagle Released: Ed Clark, president of the Wildlife Center of Virginia, releases an adult male bald eagle at Kiptopeke State Park near Capeville, Va., on Thursday. The bird was discovered on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in poor health and was transported to the wildlife center in Waynesboro, Va. where it was rehabilitated.

JAPAN — Actor Transforms Face for Female Role: Kabuki actor Kyozo Nakamura makes up his face to transform to play female role of “Fuji-musume,” or the Wisteria Maiden, during a demonstration at Kabuki Gallery in Tokyo on Friday.

U.S. Marine Pfc. Joseph Scott Pemberton is being tagged as a suspect and is now detained in a U.S. facility inside the sprawling general headquarters of the Philippine armed forces.

SWITZERLAND — Man Enjoys Peak Walk in Les Diablerets: A man enjoys the view during the inauguration of the Peak Walk, a suspension bridge that connects two mountain peaks, in Les Diablerets, Switzerland, on Friday. The Peak Walk connects the View Point peak with the main peak Scex Rouge (about 5 m higher). The 107 m long and 80 cm wide bridge offers a stunning view onto the Alps.
