Mayor Bill de Blasio is acknowledging that it was a mistake to bar reporters from a union meeting he attended.

The city Department of Investigation issued a report Tuesday that said reporters were improperly kept from the July meeting of Local 1182 of the Communications Workers of America.

De Blasio attended the meeting, which was held in a Brooklyn public school.

The Department of Investigation report said that workers banned a New York Post reporter from the meeting because they believed “the Post representatives to be from Cablevision.”

The union is engaged in a long-running dispute with Cablevision.

De Blasio said on Tuesday that it was “a mistake” to keep reporters and the public from the meeting.

De Blasio has received some criticism for previously limiting media access to events.
