A 94-year-old Brooklyn man was found to be packing heat when he entered a body scanner at a checkpoint at LaGuardia Airport early on Wednesday, Nov. 26 – one of the busiest travel days of the year.

The man was stopped by TSA officers after they detected a .38 caliber handgun clipped to his belt at the small of his back.

The TSA said in a statement that the gun was loaded with six rounds.

TSA officers contacted the Port Authority Police who confiscated the firearm. TSA said there was “no impact to airport operations.”

According to FOX17, the passenger, Perry Berger, has a full-carry permit for the gun and was not arrested.

TSA says travelers who bring firearms to the checkpoint are subject to penalties of up to $11,000.

Also on Nov. 26, a Queens man was arrested at JFK after TSA officers opened two of the man’s checked bags and found two crossbows, three starter pistols, two BB guns (including a BB rifle), a stun gun, handcuffs and several arrows.

The man was arrested on weapons charges.
