ON THIS DAY IN 1908, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Dr. P. Allen Morton Was Really a Suicide.”  The article focused on a Brooklyn dentist’s death.  “It became known to-day that the death of Dr. D. Allen Morton, a prominent Brooklyn dentist, which occurred at Jay, N.Y., on Monday, Aug. 31, was not the result of natural causes, and that the dentist had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a revolver,” the Eagle reported.
