ALBANY— Supporters of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo are mounting another effort to knock liberal challenger Zephyr Teachout off next month’s primary ballot.

Days after losing in trial court, a lawyer for two Cuomo campaign interns has formally appealed, accusing Teachout of “retroactively” changing her residency to New York state when she decided to run for governor.

Cuomo supporters note that Teachout held a Vermont driver’s license until this spring.

The matter will go before an appellate court in Brooklyn on Tuesday. The primary is Sept. 9.

Teachout says she has resided in New York since taking a job as a law professor at Fordham University in 2009. She says Cuomo’s campaign is mounting a “frivolous” challenge to eliminate political opposition.
