Taxpayers are footing the bill for most of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s personal travel.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that public money has been used for de Blasio’s nongovernment trips outside the city.

De Blasio has taken several recent weekend trips, including to Massachusetts and Connecticut.

And on a family vacation to Italy, de Blasio used a taxpayer-funded, chauffeured Mercedes-Benz.

The paper reports that other elected officials traveling with police protection usually reimburse their personal expenses, but it is not required by law.

Mayoral spokeswoman Marti Adams told the paper that de Blasio would not pay the city back.

The mayor also does not pay for subway rides while conducting official business.

Adams said de Blasio does usually pay when he takes the subway for personal reasons.
