New York’s most “intoxicating” literary scene—Eat, Drink & Be Literary, presented by BAM and the National Book Awards—will soon celebrate its 10th season with eight renowned authors, including Pulitzer,  Booker and National Book Award winners. Starting with Booker Prize honoree Salman Rushdie on Jan. 29, the series continues through May 28 with authors Alice McDermott, Jeffrey Eugenides, NoViolet Bulawayo, Chang-rae Lee, Daniel Alarcón, Alison Bechdel and Meg Wolitzer. Each will read from their work, share their inspirations, creative process, and anecdotes. These events offer literary devotees—writers and readers alike—the chance to socialize and enjoy a delicious meal before the readings in an informal setting that also encourages in-depth discussions.

Eat, Drink, & Be Literary started in 2005 and has become one of the most popular literary events in New York, with many sold-out evenings. The 71 literary luminaries who have shared food and drink with book-lovers include 12 Pulitzer Prize winners, two Booker Prize winners, 25 PEN Awards recipients, seven National Book Award winners, 12 MacArthur “Genius” Fellows, and one Tony Award winner. A partial list includes Edward Albee, Peter Carey, Michael Cunningham, Junot Díaz, Jonathan Franzen, Ha Jin, Jhumpa Lahiri, Jonathan Lethem, Joyce Carol Oates, Cynthia Ozick, Richard Russo and Art Spiegelman, among others. The 10th season continues this stellar tradition.
