Police have circulated a sketch of a suspect they are seeking following the attempted rape of a woman on a Bay Ridge street during the early morning hours of Nov. 3.

The suspect approached the woman from behind and grabbed her as she was walking on 72nd Street at approximately 3 a.m., police said. The attacker sexually assaulted the woman and then attempted to rape her. The woman fought back and the suspect fled east on 72nd Street on foot, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man approximately 25 years old, 5 foot 7, and 200 pounds, with a long goatee. The police sketch is based on a description given to cops by a witness.

Police are asking anyone with information about the attacker to call the Special Victims Squad at 718-230-4421.

The attack took place within the confines of the 68th Precinct. The precinct’s community council emailed the police sketch to thousands of subscribers on its mailing list, along with an urgent message asking for anyone with information about the suspect or anyone who recognizes the man in the sketch to come forward. “Please take a good look at the picture,” the council’s message read.
