An art student at Pratt Institute jumped from a Brooklyn residence hall late Wednesday, sources told the Brooklyn Eagle.

An NYPD spokesperson said there was “no criminality involved.”

Mareena Jacob, 20,  jumped from a terrace on Willoughby Ave. at about 6 p.m.

She was taken to King’s County Medical Center, where she died, the Daily News reported.

“The Pratt community’s thoughts are with Mareena Jacob’s family and friends during this difficult time,” said Pratt spokesperson Amy Aronoff.

Twitter and Facebook users posted their thoughts and prayers to the student’s friends and family.

One poster commented, “It’s been a tragic and shocking couple of weeks in the Pratt community. Two lives taken far too soon.”

The tweet is likely referring to an earlier tragic accident that occurred off-campus and resulted in the death of contract security guard Nyrel Wade, Aronoff said.

Wade was employed by SEB security, and worked at Pratt Institute as a security guard since February 2013.

U.S. News and World Report lists Pratt as one of the top twenty schools in the northeast.

Update: Ms. Jacob’s age was originally given as 29. It has been corrected to 20.
