A 20-count federal indictment and threatening to toss a reporter off a balcony might disqualify a congressmen in a bid for a third term.

Not in feisty Staten Island and a stretch of Brooklyn, where defiant voters are standing by pugnacious Republican Michael Grimm.

They’re dismissing the actions at the heart of his legal woes — charges of tax evasion, fraud, cash payments to illegal workers at a Manhattan restaurant — as unsavory but typical in New York.

Grimm’s a former Marine and ex-FBI agent in a tight election fight against Democrat Domenic Recchia, a former New York City councilman who says Grimm is ineffective.

But Grimm’s constituency shrugs off the indictments and the tough talk. Grimm says his style helps him stick up for Staten Island.
