Subway performers challenge NYPD arrests
Subway performers, local volunteers and city officials gathered Tuesday in response to performer Andrew Kalleen’s recent arrest, which took place at the Lorimer Street/ Metropolitan Avenue subway station on Oct. 17.
Kalleen was arrested for playing his guitar and singing on the subway platform. A video of the arrest, which additionally shows Kalleen citing laws for his defense, has received about 500,000 views on YouTube.
“Music is Legal” signs were seen at the rally, where the attendees protested the “wrongful arrest.”
