Grimm, Recchia meet in NYC House race final debate
The candidates in a hotly contested race to represent Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn in the House of Representatives are facing off in a final debate.
Republican Rep. Michael Grimm and Democratic challenger Domenic Recchia are scheduled to debate Tuesday night on Staten Island. The event is being hosted by The Advance newspaper and NY1.
The two were combative in a debate earlier in October. Recchia repeatedly brought up a federal indictment facing Grimm, while Grimm said he could do the best job for the 11th Congressional District.
Grimm has pleaded not guilty to evading taxes by allegedly hiding more than $1 million in sales and wages, while running a small Manhattan restaurant.
The 44-year-old Grimm is seeking his third term. Recchia is a former New York City Councilmember.
