HONG KONG — Student Protester Leaders, Hong Kong Officials Met but Agreed on Little: Pro-democracy protesters spread a yellow banner with the words reading: “I want genuine universal suffrage” at a rally in the occupied areas outside government headquarters in Hong Kong’s on Admiralty Tuesday. Pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong stretched into a fourth week, as student leaders pushing for a greater say in choosing the territory’s chief executive met with government officials but agreed on little.

GREECE — Navy Philharmonic Band Plays at Greek Military Parade: Members of a navy’s philharmonic band play as military helicopters fly above during the annual military parade in the northern Greek port city of Thessaloniki on Tuesday. The parade is held to celebrate Greece’s refusal to align itself with a belligerent fascist Italy in 1940.  Police banned spectators from approaching within half a kilometer (500 yards) from the stand where Greece’s president Karolos Papoulias and other officials were watching the parade.  Anti-austerity protests disrupted a previous Oct. 28 parade in Thessaloniki.

CALIFORNIA —  Disc Golfers Compete in Edgewater Tournament: Jessica Weese of Grass Valley, Calif., participates in the second annual 2014 Edgewater Open disc golf tournament on Oct. 25 at the Henderson Open Space area in Redding, Calif.  The creation of the course and regular play there has helped clean up the area, with homeless leaving and others volunteering to clean up trash and brush.

ILLINOIS — Brothers Rake Leaves During Warm Fall Day: Charlie Hicks, 9, left, and his brother Joseph Hicks, 8, right, were busy raking and sweeping up a pile of leaves Monday in the 500 block of Henry Street in Alton, Ill. Temperatures were a warm mid 80s but all of that is forecast to change starting Tuesday as high temperatures drop back into the 60s in southwestern Illinois.

TURKEY — Bystander Witnesses Kobani During Airstrikes: A man views the town of Kobani during airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition seen from the outskirts of Suruc, near the Turkey-Syria border on Tuesday. Kobani, also known as Ayn Arab, and its surrounding areas, has been under assault by extremists of the Islamic State group since mid-September and is being defended by Kurdish fighters.

WASHINGTON — Students Tear Up at Memorial for Shooting Victims: Francesca Tuazon, 17, right, and Nicole Buell, 17, view a growing memorial on a fence around Marysville Pilchuck High School on Monday in Marysville, Wash.  On Oct. 24, a student opened fire in the school cafeteria, killing two fellow students before taking his own life. The school will be closed all week. Both girls attend rival Marysville-Getchell High School.
