Protesters stormed the parliament Thursday, dragging furniture and computers onto the street and setting the main chamber ablaze. On Friday the army announced the ouster of President Compaore after 27 years of rule.

INDIA — Protesters Demand Justice for 1984 Massacre: Indian Sikhs participate in a protest to demand justice for victims of the 1984 massacre of Sikhs following the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, in New Delhi, India, on Friday. More than 3,000 Sikhs were killed in riots that followed Gandhi’s assassination on Oct. 31 by two of her Sikh bodyguards. Placard reads “Remember, justice may take 200 years but we will keep fighting.”

TURKEY-SYRIA — Man Rides Past Troops Guarding Border: A man rides a motorcycle past Turkish troops guarding Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga soldiers prior to their departure to the Syrian city of Kobani, outside a staging area on the outskirts of Suruc, near the Turkey-Syria border on Friday. Kobani, also known as Ayn Arab, and its surrounding areas, has been under assault by extremists of the Islamic State group since mid-September and is being defended by Kurdish fighters.

LIBERIA — Health Workers Spray Disinfectant Around Man Suspected to Have Ebola: Heath workers spray disinfectant around a man suspected of dying from the Ebola virus on the outskirts of Monrovia, Liberia, on Friday. The World Health Organization said this week that the rate of infection in Liberia appears to be falling but warned that the response effort must be kept up or the trend could be reversed.
