“The majority against woman suffrage in New York state, late returns indicated today, will be from 195,000 to 200,000.  The Brooklyn majority against it is 38,684,” the Eagle reported.  “Dr. Anna Howard Shaw, president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, issued a statement today in which she said that suffragists had every reason to feel elated at the result, and reiterated the determination of the National Association not to end the fight until it was victorious.”
