Treyger urges Brooklyn residents to give pets a home
Councilmember co-hosting animal adoption fair Nov. 9
Brooklyn residents who visit the offices of their local council members usually go there to seek help with quality of life issues or to get information about city programs. But on Sunday, constituents of Councilmember Mark Treyger who visit his Gravesend district office can walk away with a new pet.
Treyger, the owner of two rescued Yorkies named Bella and Bashful, is joining forces with the Sean Casey Animal Rescue group to hold a pet adoption event on Sunday, Nov. 9, outside his district office at 2015 Stillwell Ave., from noon to 5 p.m.
Treyger (D-Coney Island-Gravesend-Bensonhurst) said he was inspired to partner with Sean Casey Animal Rescue after he and his wife adopted a Yorkie, Bella, from the group earlier this year. The Treygers also have another Yorkie, Bashful, whom they adopted from a shelter.
“As someone who truly cares about providing every animal with a good home, I am proud to partner with Sean Casey Animal Rescue for this great event. My wife and I rescued an adorable Yorkie from Sean Casey, so I know firsthand how caring and professional this organization is. I urge anyone who has been thinking about welcoming a pet into their family to consider rescuing a dog or cat on Sunday in order to provide a permanent home for one of the many animals in need,” Treyger said.
