JetBlue airline says it will fly two members from any police department in the country to New York City to attend the funerals of slain NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

Ramos’ funeral will take place on Saturday in Glendale, New York. A wake will be held on Friday. Liu’s funeral hasn’t been scheduled, as relatives are flying in from China.

JetBlue has offered flights to the families of the fallen officers as well, according to the airline.

“Our teams offered flights to the families of the fallen officers and are currently working with a partner carrier to assist in flying in the family of Officer Liu from overseas,” JetBlue said in an emailed response to the Brooklyn Eagle.

“We’re honored to do what we can to support the communities we serve, and our team has made flights available to law enforcement agencies across our route network who wish to send representatives to New York to support their brethren,” JetBlue said. “We are accepting up to two officers from each department (space permitting). Agencies wishing to send representatives can e-mail [email protected] with a request and our team will look for available seats to accommodate.”

JetBlue’s philanthropy has generated widespread positive response across social media.

“As a sister to a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty – this act of kindness is amazing! Thank you for showing your support! I knew I loved JetBlue for a reason!” commented Starr Veilleux Cloutier of Maine on the NYCFirewire website.

Travel writer Johnny Jet ‏tweeted that the move was a “class act.”

Vice President Biden plans to attend the Saturday service, according to AP.
