ON THIS DAY in 1912, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Sentencing of Hyde Postponed by Goff Till Next Monday.”
The article focused on charges against the city’s former chamberlain being postponed.
“Charles H. Hyde, ex-chamberlain of the city, convicted of misusing his office, was not sentenced today,” the Eagle reported. “Instead he was remanded back to the tombs until Monday when he will again be brought up for sentence.”
