Bestselling author Sophie Hannah’s new book revives an old character made famous by the grand dame of mystery writers, Agatha Christie.

“The Monogram Murders” features Hercule Poirot, the investigator and hero of many of Christie’s books. “The Monogram Murders,” published by William Morrow, was authorized by Christie family.

Hannah will be appearing at the BookMark Shoppe at 8415 Third Ave. in Bay Ridge on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. to sign copies of her book. The BookMark Shoppe visit will mark the author’s only appearance in New York.

In “The Monogram Murders,” Hannah breathes new life into the incomparable detective. In this tale, Poirot plunges into a mystery set in 1920s London and finds a diabolically clever puzzle that will test his brilliant skills.

Since the publication of her first novel in 1920, more than 2 billion copies of Agatha Christie’s books have been sold around the globe. “The Monogram Murders” marks the first time that the guardians of Christie’s legacy have approved a brand new novel featuring her most beloved creation, Hercule Poirot.

“We Agatha Christie fans read her stories — and particularly her Poirot novels — because the mysteries are invariably equal parts charming and ingenious, dark and quirky and utterly engaging. Sophie Hannah had a massive challenge in reviving the beloved Poirot, and she met it with heart and no small amount of little grey cells. I was thrilled to see the Belgian detective in such very, very good hands. Reading ‘The Monogram Murders’ was like returning to a favorite room of a long-lost home,” Gillian Flynn, author of the best seller “Gone Girl,” wrote in a review praising “The Monogram Murders.”
