Police say a woman who was nine months pregnant was struck and killed by a private snow plow in Brooklyn, and her baby was in critical but stable condition after an emergency C-section.

Police say the accident happened around 10:45 a.m. Thursday behind Fei Long Market at 3601 8th Avenue in Bay Ridge. They say 36-year-old Min Lin and her husband had just been shopping and were loading their groceries into their car in the parking lot when she was hit by a Bobcat truck driven by a 42-year-old man with a snow plow attached to the front went in reverse and hit Lin. The man was just trying to clear the snow out of the parking lot.

It’s not clear exactly how the tragic accident took place, or whether poor visibility due to the snow storm was a factor. “We’re still in the early stages of our investigation,” a police officer at the 68th precinct said.

She was pronounced dead at Maimonides Medical Center.

Lin was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead an hour after the accident. But doctors were able to delivery her baby, a boy. The child was listed in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the snow plow remained at the scene of the accident. He was not charged with any wrongdoing.
