The music and pageantry of the NYS Courts Pipes & Drums Band and the NYS Courts Ceremonial Unit brought spectators out to watch as the 20th Annual Celts St. Patrick’s Day Parade made it way up Montague Street and into Brooklyn Borough Hall Plaza on Friday.
“Downtown is where all the courts are situated, and everyone came out for the parade,” said Captain James Campbell, who leads the Ceremonial Unit. Captain Campbell said that “90 percent of the spectators work in New York State courts.”
The annual parade followed a mass at noon at St. Charles Borromeo Church.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Dennis W. Quirk, head of the New York State Court Officers Association (NYSCOA). Quirk’s maternal grandparents and grandparents hail from County Tipperary, while his paternal grandparents and great grandparents come from County Cork.
The installation took place at Harry O’s Restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn.
