After nearly three years working for Senator Daniel Squadron, Amy Spitalnick will be leaving her job as his communications director this Friday. She made the announcement via email.

On Monday, Spitalnick will start as Director of Public Affairs for Mayor de Blasio’s Office of Management and Budget, where she’ll be focused on “communications for the city budget, the state budget as it pertains to the city, and Sandy relief and recovery efforts.”

Calling the transition “bittersweet,” Spitalnick said, “It’s been an honor to work for an elected official as dedicated, talented, and effective as Daniel — he’s one of the really good guys in politics, and I’m proud to call him a mentor and a friend.”

First Lady Chirlane McCray on Wednesday announced Darren Bloch as Executive Director to The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and Counsel to the Office of Strategic Partnerships. McCray is Chair of the Mayor’s Fund.

Bloch, who lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two daughters, will provide oversight and management of the general business affairs of the Mayor’s Fund, including working to develop priorities “where private donations and institutional support can be leveraged in order to foster innovative and effective programs serving New Yorkers.” Bloch will also collaborate with city agencies to develop programmatic priorities for funding and support.

“New York City has a wealth of resources that, working in conjunction with the city’s priorities, can make a significant impact on our city,” he said. “I look forward to collaborating with nonprofit and private sector partners to ensure we are best serving all New Yorkers.”
