The  coolest “mystery” building in East Williamsburg, at 56-66 Meserole St., looks kinda like a red-brick castle.

The property was Joseph Fallert’s brewery from the 1870s until 1920 when Prohibition came along, online records indicate.

Its air of mystery comes from the high fence that half-hides the handsome property, and a turret rising high into the sky.

Someday, the property will be opened up to the wider world – if development plans take off. The owner, Gregory Pasternak of Browar Corp., filed a plan with the city Buildings Department for a new certificate of occupancy and a change of use for the manufacturing property into a “mixed-use residential multiple dwelling unit and commercial” building, online records indicate.

The city agency disapproved the plan exam in February. We’ll keep our eyes peeled to see what happens next.

Browar Corp. has owned the property since 1996, city records indicate.
