Women’s Bar Association reads Dr. Seuss to Brooklyn kids
It’s not every day that you get to meet a judge dressed up as a character from a Dr. Seuss book, but that’s exactly what some first graders from P.S. 274 in Bushwick were treated to on Monday morning.
The Honorable Joanne D. Quinones — a graduate of P.S. 274 — donned a “Thing 2” costume Monday morning at the same elementary school that she graduated from as the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association took part in the 17th Annual Read Across America program.
“The Women’s Bar Association for the state of New York wanted us to do community service projects, and they listed Read Across America as one of the projects,” Quinones said. “As soon as I heard that, I was excited to do it because I love Dr. Seuss and I knew that it would give me a chance to go back and visit the elementary school that I graduated from.”
