Step back in time to one of the pivotal battles in the American Civil War as actress Michéle LaRue tells the story of “Gettysburg: One Woman’s War” on Wednesday, March 12 at St. Francis College’s Founders Hall in Brooklyn Heights. Sponsored by the St. Francis Women’s Studies Center, American Studies Program and Department of English, LaRue’s one woman show brings to life a fictional Gettysburg townswoman and offers a look at this historic battle, as well as its aftermath, all from a female perspective.

The play is a dramatization of three short stories written by Elsie Singmaster in her classic book, Gettysburg: Stories of the Red Harvest and the Aftermath. The stories deal with the start of the battle, the Gettysburg Address and a look 50 years later as sightseers return to the battlefield.
