Every year New York state Senator Daniel Squadron (D- Greenpoint, Williamsburg, DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, lower Manhattan) holds a convention where hundreds of his constituents gather to share their insights and help him set priorities.

Sen. Squadron, who represents the 26th Senate District, announced on Tuesday that his sixth annual convention, to be held on April 27, will feature Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman as the keynote speaker.

“We’re excited to have the Attorney General, who’s become a leader statewide and nationally standing up for those who need it most, join us,” Sen. Squadron said in a statement. “I hope you can come too to share your insights and be part of setting our priorities for the year to come, on April 27th, from 2 – 5 p.m. at Seward Park High School.”

Squadron says he wants his constituents to have “a direct role in our community — shaping my priorities in Albany and in the district.” The convention includes small group sessions in Spanish and Chinese as well.

In years past Sen. Squadron’s constituents discussed a range of issues, from education to public transit to emergency preparedness. This year’s topics include arts and culture; zoning, neighborhood preservation and quality of life; civil rights and economic and social justice; parks, open spaces and environment, streets and transportation; campaign finance; education and more.

Sen. Squadron encourage folks to RSVP by either calling 212-298-5565 or going online to: squadron.nysenate.gov
