Writer chronicles year spent living like Martha Stewart
Author of ‘The Tao of Martha’ To Speak in Bay Ridge
In January 2012, New York Times bestselling author Jen Lancaster announced to her husband that she was embarking on a unique one-year mission: to live her life according to the dictates of Martha Stewart. Lancaster was in a funk after a particularly rough year and recognized she was in need of her own version of “The Happiness Project.” A longtime Martha Stewart fan, Lancaster immersed herself in Martha’s media empire, taking herself, her husband, her pets and her house along for the ride.
Now, Lancaster reveals the results of her social experiment in “The Tao of Martha: My Year of LIVING, or Why I’m Never Getting All That Glitter Off of the Dog” (NAL), to be released in paperback on May 6. From closet organization to craft-making and party-planning to kitchen prep, Lancaster lived her days according to Martha’s dictates and embraced the ultimate piece of Martha’s advice: The only way to fail is not to try.
Lancaster will appear in Brooklyn on May 6 to read from and sign books at the BookMark Shoppe in Bay Ridge.
