Brooklyn detective labeled a “rat” by other NYPD officers receives $280,000 from city
A ex-NYPD detective who said his career was ruined because he was labeled a ‘rat” by other officers will get $280,000 from the city.
James Griffin filed a lawsuit in Brooklyn federal court in 2010 accusing the police department of violating his First Amendment rights.
He said he found the word “rat” written on his locker and that other detectives in his 83rd Precinct detective squad refused to work with him.
