Earlier this week, we reported that TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack were set to open this week. They both joined H&M at the Offerman Building and we were there to take in the excitement.
The two stores share a lobby in the historic property on Downtown Brooklyn's Fulton Mall. You go up the elevator to get to Nordstrom Rack, and down to the basement to join the "Maxinistas," as T.J. Maxx calls its shoppers.
For Day One in Brooklyn, Nordstrom Rack offered up Kate Spade suits reminiscent of classic Chanel. And the price was nice - at least relatively so. The jacket was marked down to $219.97 from $598.
There were actual bargains to be had by the horde of Brooklynites who came to the store in the evening, after work. This little number was $24.97, marked down from $46. Do they have one in my size?
There were also plenty of pretty purses at Nordstrom Rack just waiting to be purchased by penny-pinching pursuers.
Crowds flocked to the new T.J. Maxx as well on Thursday evening, as you can see from the line of shoppers waiting to pay for their bargain finds.
