Nets’ Mason Plumlee named to NBA All-Rookie First Team

Brooklyn Nets forward/center Mason Plumlee has been named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team, the NBA announced today. Plumlee joins Philadelphia’ Michael Carter-Williams, Orlando’s Victor Oladipo, Utah’s Trey Burke and New York’s Tim Hardaway Jr. on the All-Rookie First Team.

Plumlee appeared in 70 games, 22 starts, during his rookie season, averaging 7.4 points (8th among rookies) on 65.9% shooting (1st among rookies), 4.4 rebounds (t-4th among rookies), 0.70 steals (7th among rookies) and 0.79 blocks (t-4th among rookies) in 18.2 minutes per game. The Duke product was also first among all qualifying rookies in player efficiency rating (19.0), win shares (4.7) and true shooting percentage (67.0%) and played more minutes per game for a team that finished the regular season over .500 than any other rookie.

Plumlee scored in double figures 19 times, including 16 times after January 1st, and totaled four double-doubles. The Nets posted a 16-6 record in games Plumlee started. 

Selected by Brooklyn with the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft, Plumlee is the 13th player in Nets team history to be named to the All-Rookie Team (seven First Team selections and six Second Team selections).
