Victorian Flatbush: Genteel Noshing: Cortelyou Road and Church Avenue eateries dish up the charm
Eye On Real Estate: Flatbush Installment Two
If you live in a Victorian Flatbush house, logic dictates that you stay home a lot and revel in its antique charms.
However, Cortelyou Road and Church Avenue are populated with eateries that pour on the charm and draw residents out for a bite to eat.
One foodie fave is the Farm on Adderley at 1108 Cortelyou Road in Ditmas Park. We slipped in there recently and noshed on a smoked pollack cake (like a crab cake, but with its own distinctive flavor). Instead of dessert, we ate chocolate bread (imagine raisin bread studded with chunks of melty chocolate instead of desiccated grapes). If we could cook half as well as these people, we’d be in the restaurant business, too.
Asian fusion restaurant Purple Yam at nearby 1314 Cortelyou Road is generating a lot of buzz.
