$1,000 reward offered for information in possible Williamsburg bias attack
14-year-old boy punched in face, called racial slur
The United Jewish Organizations (UJO) of Williamsburg is announcing a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for Thursday’s suspected bias attack on a young 14 year-old boy in South Williamsburg.
Surveillance footage distributed by the NYPD shows a grainy image of the suspect on a bicycle, who was described as a white man in his thirties.
The attack occurred Thursday evening on Lee Avenue between Heyward and Lynch Streets at around 8:00PM. Witnesses told police that the suspect punched the young boy in the face and yelled and expletive in reference to “Jews” before he fled the scene. The boy was terribly traumatized and afraid to go out in the street afterwards. The bias attack follows a two-month pattern of an increase in crimes in the area, specifically involving assaults and thefts.
