Free yoga lessons bring 100 participants to Shore Road Park
Three more classes set for summer
The first in a series of free outdoor yoga lessons sponsored by two Bay Ridge lawmakers took place in Shore Road Park on June 24, attracting an enthusiastic crowd of 100 participants looking to limber up and find inner peace in a bucolic setting.
“We had a great turnout for our first yoga in the park,” Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-C-Bay Ridge-Staten Island) told the Brooklyn Eagle in a text message. Malliotakis is teaming up with state Sen. Marty Golden (R-C-Bay Ridge-southwest Brooklyn) to sponsor a series of four classes in Shore Road Park. Malliotakis and Golden are partnering with Yoga in Bay Ridge, a yoga studio on Fourth Avenue and 5 Boro Power Yoga on Staten Island to offer the outdoor lessons.
For the first session, Malliotakis and Golden not only sponsored the event, they took part in the class, stretching and posing along with the other participants.
The classes will run now through August in Shore Road Park, providing a fun and relaxing way to improve physical health and mental well-being, according to Malliiotakis.
