Architects propose ‘alternatives’ to Atlantic Yards construction
A gallery exhibit offers five intriguing designs–scaled models and all–as alternatives to the current construction scheme proposed for the Atlantic Yards site.
‘Five Proposals for the Future of the Atlantic Yards’ opened Thursday evening at Warehouse623 in Prospect Heights. The brainchild of architect Thomas Barry, the exhibit features more unconventional plans from five teams of designers.
The alternative schemes are arguably more aesthetically pleasing and inviting to local residents, while maintaining the same amount of housing and retail as the masterplan presented by Forest City Ratner.
