We spied some steel steers in Red Hook.

It sounds like a line from a limerick — but it happened the other day.

We were lucky enough to be walking down the street where sculptor Norbert Kimmel’s studio is located, and his security gate was open. The artist let us snap photos of him and his endearing works. Besides the beauteous bovines, there were giant metal stalks swaying gently in the breeze.

“I love this place,” Kimmel said of his rented studio.

It would be wrong of us to write about Red Hook without offering up fresh photos of the art that’s all over the place.

There are eye-catching pieces in the yard at Pioneer Works, and inside as well. This place, where artist Dustin Yellin presides over terrific galleries and studio space, is open to the public several days a week and is located at 159 Pioneer St.

City Finance Department records indicate that the signatory for the LLC that bought the building for $3.7 million in 2011 was Jacqueline Yellin, trustee of the Jacqueline Yellin Trust of Feb. 6, 1992.

By the way, for trivia buffs who want to know everything about Red Hook: Dustin Yellin dated Oscar nominee Michelle Williams for a year, but they broke up, Us Weekly reported in May.
