ALBANY— New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he’s considering a visit to Israel, despite that nation’s ongoing conflict with the militant group Hamas in Gaza.

The Democratic governor told reporters on Monday that he is discussing a possible trip to Israel. He says a visit would highlight the special relationship between Israel and the state of New York, which is home to many of the nation’s Jewish people.

Cuomo is widely believed to have presidential ambitions. He rarely leaves New York state but has visited Israel in the past.
