Cops and the community residents they protect will gather together to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5 with block parties , barbecues, and other fun events designed to bring them closer together.

Police precincts all over Brooklyn are busy finalizing their plans for National Night Out.

The 84th Precinct Community Council (Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, DUMBO and Vinegar Hill) will host a celebration at Brooklyn Borough Hall, beginning at 5 p.m., that will feature entertainment by a variety of musicians, a cookout,  refreshments, ice cream and more. 84th Precinct Community Council President Leslie Lewis has planned an event unique to this year’s Night Out festivities — a bike helmet fitting and distribution event.

Transportation will be provided by the 84th Precinct; for more information, call 718-875-6850.
