A preservation group has filed a lawsuit to block a 485,000-square-foot hospital outpatient center in Park Slope.

The suit was filed by Preserve Park Slope Inc. against New York Methodist Hospital. It says the Board of Standards and Appeals overstepped its authority when it approved a zoning variance for the center in June.

The center would include 12 operating rooms for same-day surgery, a cancer center, an endoscopy suite and after-hours urgent-care.

The Wall Street Journal says the group also objects to the center’s modern design. It says it would be out scale and character with the neighborhood’s brownstones.

The Board of Standards and Appeals declined to comment, citing the pending litigation.

The hospital says it has made 20 changes to the project based on community feedback.
