Brooklyn Bridge Park presents ‘Building a Sustainable Park’
Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is home to many diverse activities, including yoga classes, kids’ events, movie screenings and even floating concerts. But beyond all of the entertaining it does, the BBP has a very honorable mantra: “We’re committed to respecting Mother Nature,” its website reads.
Wednesday Night Tours occur every Wednesday throughout the summer and focus on a variety of different aspects of the park. Previous Wednesday Night Tours have included interactive photography around the park, an architectural tour of the Manhattan skyline and a presentation on the history of Henry Ward Beecher, a Brooklyn Underground Railroad hero.
This Wednesday, July 9, the tour will be led by Patricia Kirshner, Vice President of Capital Planning and Construction at BBP, and will feature the park’s many sustainable aspects. From recycled storm water to green roofs to salvaged wood and granite materials, prepare to learn all about what makes this park one with the environment.
