“Summertime and the living is easy,” George Gershwin wrote. Well, the music is easy, too, especially if you live in southwest Brooklyn.
State Sen. Marty Golden (R-C-Bay Ridge-southwest Brooklyn), in partnership with the Southwest Brooklyn Parks Task Force, is sponsoring a summer concert series in parks in his senate district.
The first show took place Tuesday night in Shore Road Park in Bay Ridge.
The series of fourteen concerts will feature an array of musical acts performing in different styles, everything from rock, jazz, blues, disco and even a touch of Frank Sinatra.
“We have a great lineup of entertainment, so mark your calendar, bring a chair, or a blanket, and make your way to our scheduled fourteen shows in our beautiful parks,” Golden said. “I guarantee you will enjoy the entertainment that will feature classic rock, the greatest hits of all time, disco, blues and dance.”
Here is the lineup of performers and concert venues: July 15, Radio Daze (70’s & 80’s Party Music), in Shore Road Park (enter at 79th Street); July 16,Yesterday & Today (Beatle Tribute Band), at Marine Park at Fillmore Ave; July 22, Generation Gap at Dyker Park on 86th Street and 14th Avenue; July 23, Carl Thomas (tribute to Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin) at Avenue U and Van Sicklen Street; July 29, Blues Circus (Improvisational Blues Rock) at Shore Road Park; July 30, Alive N Kickin’ (Hit song “Tighter & Tighter”) at Marine Park; Aug. 6, Brooklyn Keys at Marine Park; Aug. 12, Disco Unlimited (Best of the 70’s Disco) at Shore Road Park; Aug. 13, Radio Daze (70’s & 80’s Party Music) at Marine Park; Aug. 19, Frankie Marra and His Band (Classic Rock) at Shore Road Park; Aug. 20, On A Good Run (Classic Rock) at Marine Park; Aug. 26, Bay Ridge Saint Patrick Parade presents “Irish Night on Shore Road,” featuring The Canny Brothers, in Shore Road Park.
