Bay Ridge Democrats hope their party’s convention is Brooklyn-bound
It’s not just the big shots in the city’s Democratic Party that want the 2016 Democratic National Convention to take place at the Barclays Center. The party’s loyal foot soldiers want it too.
“I’m looking forward to riding the newly reinstated B37 from Bay Ridge right down to the Barclays Center and nominating the next president of the United States,” said Justin Brannan, president of the Bay Ridge Democrats.
Brannan, who has done everything from collecting signatures on nominating petitions to accompanying candidates on early morning subway station meet-and-greets to get Democrats elected, said his political club is fully on board with the effort being put forth by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Public Advocate Letitia James, Comptroller Scott Stringer, Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Borough President Eric Adams and others to convince the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to hold the convention here in Brooklyn.
