Dragons, lions and drums in Downtown Brooklyn for Chinese-American walk-a-thon
CPC celebrates 50 years
Awesome dragons and fiery lions danced to the beat of ceremonial drums through Cadman Plaza Park in Downtown Brooklyn on Sunday as part of the annual Chinese-American Planning Council’s (CPC) Walk-a-Thon and Family Day.
Hundreds of school children, senior groups and family members, with CPC officials, Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez and Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, marched over the Brooklyn Bridge for the event, which raises funds for community services for Chinese kids, seniors and recent immigrants.
CPC board member Veronica Tsang told the Brooklyn Eagle that Sunday’s event was especially meaningful.
