Sept. 16, birthdays for Amy Poehler, Nick Jonas, Mickey Rourke
Good afternoon, Brooklyn. Today is the 259th day of the year.
****
ON THIS DAY in 1911, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Mrs. Suydam Jr., And Her Affinity Told to Get Out: Owner of Manhattan Apartment House Will Have None of Eloping Couple at the Regina.”
The article focused on a former society woman who fell in love with a plumber’s son, leaving her millionaire husband. Needless to say, the romance was not taken well.
“Mrs. Walter Lispenard Suydam Jr. and Frederick Noble have been asked to leave the apartment at 82 West 12th St., Manhattan, where they have been living as ‘Mr. and Mrs. Noble’ ever since Mrs. Suydam left the home of her millionaire husband at Blue Point, L.I., on Sept. 5, because she loved Nobel more than her legal help-mate,” the Eagle reported.
