The Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center welcomed autumn by hosting a Fall Fair on Saturday, featuring food, gifts, raffles and fun activities for children.

The center, located at 1250 67th St. in Dyker Heights, sponsors a fall fair in its main building every year.

The fair had something for everyone. There was a flea market in the ballroom where shoppers could purchase napkins and candle holders decorated with the Norwegian flag, handmade scarves, children’s books and other items. Those who felt lucky could buy raffle tickets for chances to win great prizes.

There was plenty of food. Visitors had the chance to try waffles, pea soup and Norwegian dishes like Lapskaus.

Children could get their faces painted, play with balloons and play games.

The Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center was founded in Brooklyn in 1903 by a group of residents who cared for a small group of elderly women, according to the center’s website. In 1911, the group broadened its mission to include serving men.  The group opened a skilled nursing faculty in 1975.
