New York City’s Department of City Planning has appointed Winston Von Engel as director of its Brooklyn office.

“With nearly three decades of experience, Winston Von Engel is an excellent choice for Director of the Brooklyn offices of the New York City Department of City Planning,” said Carlo A. Scissura, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.

Von Engel graduated from the Pratt Institute and most recently has served as deputy director of City Planning’s Brooklyn office. According to The Real Deal, Von Engel has worked on the Downtown Brooklyn Plan and Atlantic Yards (now Pacific Park Brooklyn).

“I have known Winston for years, and we have worked together on countless projects across the borough — from Coney Island to Downtown Brooklyn to Bay Ridge,” said Scissura. “There is no one more qualified for this position, and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with him to make Brooklyn even better!”
