Onward and upward in Downtown Brooklyn.

Real estate websites were buzzing Friday with news of the latest contender for Brooklyn’s tallest building.

JEMB Realty, which owns a parking lot at 420 Albee Square, filed plans Thursday with the city Buildings Department for a 65-story, 620-foot skyscraper at the site.

It would be a hair taller than the building that’s currently the borough’s tallest, glamorous apartment tower 388 Bridge St., and also Avalon Willoughby West, which is now under construction at 100 Willoughby St. Both buildings are located in Downtown Brooklyn.

JEMB’s filing calls for 480,345 square feet of residential space and 271,203 square feet of commercial space.

A tip of the hat to website New York YIMBY (which stands for Yes In My Back Yard) for being first with this B’KLYN skyscraper news.

There’s another contender who filed a plan earlier this year that would top everybody else’s, as the Brooklyn Eagle recently reported: JDS Development has a 70-story, 775-foot tower in mind for 340-366 Flatbush Ave. Extension.
