Brooklyn Rugby Club opens season with wins
Brooklyn Rugby Club kicked off its 2014 campaign with wins for both the men’s and women’s teams this weekend. The men opened the season with a 36-0 victory over Suffolk, while the women earned a decisive 40-22 win against Morris.
The Brooklyn men started strong with first half tries by Gedas Monginas, Craig Mackenzie, John Gearity, Toby Tornay, and Michael Reilly. Gennaro Anzalone converted two of the conversions, finishing 2 from 4 on the day. Brooklyn added a sixth try in the second half when Robert Roche touched down in the 70th minute, followed by a successful conversion by Simon Fong.
