Grace Chorale to perform ‘Luminous Night’ in Bay Ridge
Works by Beethoven as well as music from contemporary composers will be on the program when Grace Chorale of Brooklyn makes its first appearance at Art on the Corner, an arts program in Bay Ridge.
Grace Chorale’s performance, which will take place on Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 7420 Fourth Ave. (corner of Fourth Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway), at 3 p.m., is called “Luminous Night.”
The concert will feature “Elegischer Gesang” by Beethoven, followed by works by living composers, including Ola Gjielo’s “Luminous Night of the Soul,” Veronika Krausas’s “Language of the Birds” and Eric Whitacre’s “Five Hebrew Love Songs.” The concert will also include a commissioned piece by Brooklyn composer Vince Peterson based on excerpts from “Chamber Music,” a text by James Joyce.
Grace Chorale of Brooklyn is a community chorus based in Brooklyn Heights. It is a 75-member group with smaller ensembles that are drawn from their ranks. The musical director is Jason Asbury.
