ON THIS DAY in 1909, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “City Scores a Victory in Water Supply Fight.”
The article focused on the state board refusing to sidetrack hearings by referring a water supply fight to the courts. Those opposing it were allegedly attempting to delay hearings.
“The city scored a substantial victory over the opponents of the plan to enter Suffolk County for additional water at the hearing which the State Water Board held on the matter to-day at the offices of the Board of Water Supply…” the Eagle reported. “The plan … will eventually increase the water supply of Brooklyn by at least 250,000,000 gallons…”
