Students remember Pope’s NYC visit with mini-Francis doll
Students and teachers at Saint Patrick Catholic Academy in Bay Ridge marked the recent historic visit by Pope Francis to New York City in their own unique and fun way.
In addition to learning about the Pope and the significance of his first visit to the United Sates, students took part in fun activities and art projects throughout the week of the historic visit, decorating the halls of their school with colorful drawings of the Pontiff. The kids also gleefully posed with papal flags and a lifelike Pope Francis doll to show their excitement during the visit. The academy is located at 401 97th St.
Pope Francis visited the U.S. from Sept. 22 to Sept. 27, stopping in Washington D.C. and New York before heading to Philadelphia to attend the World Meeting of Families. During the New York leg of his journey (Sept. 24-26), the Pontiff led a prayer service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, offered mass at Madison Square Garden, spoke to the United Nations General Assembly and visited students at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic School in East Harlem.
